Nirma University Viral Video: ‘Jaldi bol, Panvel nikalna hai’ comment during Rajat Sood's comedy show, professor grabs student's collar and says ‘I can go up any extent’

A stand-up comedy show featuring comedian Rajat Sood at Nirma University in Ahmedabad took an unexpected turn when a professor was seen confronting a student in the audience after he interrupted the performance. The event was part of Technofora 2026, the annual technical fest organised by the university's Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering department.

What the Video Shows

Reports around the video claim that the professor, said to be the head of the Electrical and Instrumentation department, was addressing the students when the young man shouted out a line referencing the Bollywood film Golmaal. "Jaldi bol, kal subah Panvel nikalna hai (Speak quickly, we have to leave for Panvel in the morning)."

The professor shot back: "Toh nikal le bhai (Then leave, bro)."


In response, the professor is said to have called the student up on stage and grabbed him by the collar. In the clip, the professor is heard warning him: "I can go to any extent. The day you dare to insult any faculty member of the Nirma University campus, you are gone forever."

NSUI Demands Apology and Inquiry

The Congress-backed National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has stepped in, calling for the professor to apologise and for the university to launch a formal investigation. NSUI state vice president Vedant Tomar said: "The professor must apologise to the student and the university should conduct an impartial inquiry into the incident.", TOI reported.

Social media reactions

Opinion on the incident appears divided. One person defended the professor's stance on discipline: "Professors should be respected. You cannot use being cool as an excuse to say or do whatever you want."

Another argued similarly in favour of accountability: "Professors can't let go of indiscipline. There has to be some penalty."
