Aaryaveer Kohli, 15, the nephew of Virat Kohli and son of his elder brother Vikas Kohli, has been named in the preliminary list of players shortlisted for the Delhi Premier League (DPL) auction, set to take place on July 5.

A leg-spinner, Aaryaveer trains at the West Delhi Cricket Academy under Raj Kumar Sharma, who also coached Virat Kohli during his early years. He has been placed in Category C, having been a registered member of the Delhi Under-16 squad last season—a designation given to players who make it into the final pool of 30.

Aaryaveer Kohli isn’t the only relative of a former Indian cricket great to appear in the draft. Also included is Aaryavir Sehwag, the 17-year-old son of legendary opener Virender Sehwag. Aaryavir, who played for the Delhi Under-19 team and impressed with a stunning 297-run knock against Meghalaya, has been placed in Category B. Joining him in the draft is his 15-year-old brother, Vedant Sehwag, an off-spinner who represented Delhi at the Under-16 level.

The upcoming edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) will see eight teams competing, with two new franchises—Outer Delhi and New Delhi—joining the six returning sides: East Delhi Riders, North Delhi Strikers, West Delhi Lions, South Delhi Superstarz, Purani Dilli 6, and Central Delhi Kings.

In the previous season, East Delhi Riders emerged victorious in a nail-biting final, edging out South Delhi Superstarz by just three runs to claim the inaugural DPL T20 title.

The inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) spotlighted emerging stars like Priyansh Arya and Digvesh Rathi, both of whom earned lucrative IPL contracts and delivered strong performances for their respective teams.

Priyansh Arya made headlines by smashing six sixes in a single over en route to a blazing 120 off just 50 balls in a DPL match. His explosive performance helped him secure a staggering ₹3.80 crore deal. Representing IPL 2025 runners-up Punjab Kings, the left-hander went on to score 475 runs, including a century.

Digvesh Rathi, on the other hand, was picked up by the Lucknow Super Giants and impressed with 14 wickets across 13 matches.
