New York flights cancelled: What to expect Wednesday
Cancellations and delays could stretch through Wednesday, as major airlines roll out winter travel waivers for impacted airports, reported Fox Weather.According to a report in National World, the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York is still open, hundreds of flights have been cancelled today. According to FlightAware total cancellations today at John F Kennedy International Airport stand at 426, the report said.
Passengers are advised to enquire with their airline regarding the status of their flight, and check the airport’s website. On Monday, the number of cancelled flights within, into or out of the US reached more than 5,706, according to tracker FlightAware. A state of emergency has been declared for New York City, Long Island and Westchester County beginning Sunday morning ahead of the storm.

US blizzard: Weather update today
The powerful “bomb cyclone” has now shifted into Nova Scotia, Canada, where warnings for heavy snowfall and strong winds remain in effect. Meanwhile, another fast-moving weather system known as an Alberta Clipper is expected to bring snow and icy conditions to the Great Lakes and the Northeast by midweek. Although snowfall from this system is likely to be lighter, the region will continue to experience cold conditions throughout the week, with nighttime frost and daytime temperatures hovering just above freezing.A NWS blizzard warning will remain in effect until 6pm Monday for the city’s biggest nor’easter storm – a storm that forms along the East Coast – since 2017. The weather service expects “extremely treacherous” travel conditions, with New Yorkers urged by officials to “please stay home”. New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani declared a local state of emergency on Sunday as the region braced for the blizzard.
