"Dense to Very Dense Fog very likely at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Odisha and Punjab till morning hours of January 1," IMD said in its weather bulletin on Wednesday. The fog conditions in the national capital may persist till January 5, 2026.

IMD has warned of fairly widespread to widespread heavy rainfall and snowfall over areas of Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on January 1. Parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may also receive light to moderate level of rainfall and snowfall between December 31 2025 - January 2, 2026.
The national capital is likely to experience cold wave conditions between January 3-5, along with parts of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.
