Harlan Coben's first US-based Netflix adaptation
While Netflix has adapted several of Harlan Coben's novels, I Will Find You marks the first time one has been produced in an American setting.Previous Netflix adaptations, including Fool Me Once, Missing You, Stay Close and The Stranger, were largely set across Europe.
Speaking to Netflix Tudum, Coben said: "Netflix has been an amazing creative partner all over the globe, and now we get to come home and do it here in the United States. We have a dream team of talent."
The series was co-created by Robert Hull, who also serves as showrunner.
According to Wikipedia, filming took place between April and August 2025 in Kingston, Ontario, Toronto, and several locations across New York City, including Times Square, Central Park and Washington Square Park.
Will I Will Find You season 2 happen?
At present, Netflix has not officially renewed or cancelled the series. However, Harlan Coben has indicated that a second season is highly unlikely. In an interview with TV Insider, the author said: "Probably not. Whenever I do a show... it's always with the intention of never writing these characters again. It's all out on the table. It's not fair to ask people to watch eight episodes of a series and wait two years for season 2. So everything is kind of answered."
His comments align with the show's status as a limited series, suggesting the story was always intended to conclude within a single season.
Could Harlan Coben change his mind?
Although Coben does not expect to revisit the story, he has not completely ruled out the possibility.Speaking to TV Insider, as quoted by Good Housekeeping, he said: "I never say never. If we somehow came up with a storyline that would be as good as this one for these characters, I would tell it, but I don't think we're going to, and I'm not going to push it. I'd rather do a new story."
For now, fans should not expect an announcement about season two.
Critics' reviews versus audience reaction
While viewers have embraced the series, critics have been more divided.According to Rotten Tomatoes, I Will Find You has a 62% critics' approval rating based on 37 reviews, with an average score of 5.9 out of 10.
Meanwhile, Metacritic awarded the show 56 out of 100, indicating "mixed or average" reviews.
Despite the lukewarm critical response, audience interest has remained exceptionally strong, helping the thriller top Netflix's worldwide rankings.
Harlan Coben's Netflix partnership continues
Even if I Will Find You does not receive another season, Coben's collaboration with Netflix is far from over.According to Netflix Tudum, adaptations of his novels continue to expand, with Run Away already released and The Woods currently in production.
Netflix also notes that Coben's novels have been translated into 46 languages, have become No. 1 bestsellers in more than a dozen countries, and have sold more than 80 million copies worldwide.
