The newly-released Netflix Original "Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between" has been unable to bring anything new to the YA romance catalogue.

Streaming platform Netflix has released a new Original titled "Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between." It is an adaptation of the novel written by Jennifer E. Smith.

This Netflix Original revolves around the interactions between two adolescents - Aiden and Clare - and showcases a diverse set of emotions through an empathetic lens. However, the movie has not been able to make a good impact on viewers, thanks to the issues of the outcome's predictability and narrative credulity.

In "Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between," Aiden (played by Jordan Fisher) and Clare (portrayed by Talia Ryder) are two adolescents who make a "break-up-pact" on the very first night of their meet-up. They enter into a 10-month-long dating contract and decide that they will be together during their schooling and part their ways the night before leaving for their college. But things do not go as per plan, and the 82-minute-long movie is the roller-coaster ride of the emotions, feelings, and decisions of Aiden and Clare.

Although the story centres around the tried-and-tested formula of teens' love, the movie could not strike a balance between the storyline and emotional insights. The screenplay is also predictable, leaving no room for surprises even at times when twists are taking place in the movie. Besides, the characters of Aiden and Clare have been shown as too naïve, something which does not relate to real-world teens of their age.

Nonetheless, "Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between" has struck some good chords too. It has handled the LGBT representation quite delicately. Supporting characters have been given due importance in the movie.

The YA romances often capture the attention of their target audiences. However, "Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between" has fallen short of it. The movie had vital elements of bittersweet emotions, excitement and fear of new journeys, and issues of long-distance relationships, but its screenplay could not do justice to them.
