The first teaser of Alia Bhatt's 'Darlings' is here. The actress' maiden production venture is set to premiere on Netflix on August 5.

The comedy has been co-produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Alia Bhatt.

Playing a femme fatale, Alia is seen alongside Delhi Crime fame, Shefali Shah.

The dark comedy, directed by debutante filmmaker Jasmeet K. Reen, features Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah and Vijay Varma, Roshan Mathew and Vijay Maurya in key roles.

The teaser begins with a gloomy voiceover by Alia Bhatt in the background. Alia narrates a tale about a scorpion and a frog throughout the teaser. It serves as a summary of the central theme of the movie.

The moral of the story that Alia is narrating tells us that people end up reverting to their true nature even if it is not in their best interest. Or, to be specific, it points out how a wicked person will harm another even if they have to suffer alongside.

'Darlings' explores the lives of a mother-daughter duo trying to find their place in Mumbai, seeking courage and love in exceptional circumstances while fighting against all odds.

Alia Bhatt's character is seen watching a movie in a theatre alone when the teaser begins. Later on, she meets a boy outside the movie theatre, most likely to be her boyfriend. Vijay Varma plays the role of that guy.

He apologizes to her, but Bhatt's character is in no mood to forgive him. Furthermore, in the trailer, we see that Vijay starts growing suspicious of another man who is seen around Alia Bhatt's character often. Roshan Mathew plays this new man.

His suspicion grows stronger after finding a lone strand of hair on Roshan's shoulder. We see Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah in the police station, and the cops question them about a crime. The cop asks them why he must accept their story over someone else's. Although, we're not told who the cop is referring to in this scene.

Alia and Shefali also act confused about whom the cop is referring. After this, we see shots of Vijay's character getting home from work and in a state of shock. Alia's character dresses up like a femme fatale, and we're taken back to the police station scene, where the two ladies tell the policeman that they only killed someone (not disclosed who) in their thoughts and not in reality.
