Netflix Documentaries 2023: Our Planet 2, Arnold, Break Point 2 - what to watch in June and July

Here is a list of interesting documentaries to watch on Netflix streaming platform in June and July 2023.

With the popularity of over-the-top (OTT) platforms over the years, viewers have been exposed to a medium earlier left only for the discerning – documentary films and docu-dramas. Netflix has been at the forefront of presenting and producing some of the most unique documentaries of our time. One of them, The Elephant Whisperers, which is a Netflix India original, even went on to win the Oscar award for Best Documentary Short at the 95th Academy Awards.

The next two months will see Netflix premiere another forest documentary, Our Planet 2, then one on Arnold Schwarzenegger, and a lot of sports ones. Gear up.

Here is a list of interesting documentaries to watch on Netflix streaming platform in June and July 2023, with the tentative release date.



Our Planet 2: If you are nature lover, you must be aware of the Netflix original documentary Our Planet, narrated by Richard Attenborough. The new season, Our Planet 2, is due for release on June 14, 2023, with four episodes.

Arnold: The three-episode docuseries is based on the career of famous Hollywood actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger, from his beginnings in Austria as a bodybuilder to his journey to Hollywood. Release Date: June 7, 2023.

Break Point 2:
In the second season, tennis lovers will get another close look at behind-the-scenes of the ATP Tour organised by the Association of Tennis Professionals. The five-episode series premieres sometime in June 2023.

Tour de France: Unchained (Season 1): Another exciting documentary about one of the greatest tournaments in the world for athletes, the Tour de France. The season 1 of the eight-episode series debuts on Netflix on June 8, 2023.

Take Care of Maya: If the Hindi film Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway moved you, you must watch this documentary on 9-year-old Maya Kowalski, who was admitted to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in 2016, and had to be taken into state custody. This film will show what her parents went through. Netflix release date: June 19, 2023.

Wham! : Eighties kids know of George Michael and his band WHAM!, with Andrew Ridgeley. This documentary on Netflix is releasing on July 5. It will showcase the incredible journey of the two from school friends to superstars. It will showcase George and Andrew’s personal and never-before-seen footage, and rare, unheard interviews.

The Deepest Breath! : Another sports documentary, this shows how a champion freediver trains to break a world record with the help of an expert safety diver. The two form a rare emotional bond and scale great heights in the sport. Netflix release date: July 19, 2023.

The Lady of Silence: The Mataviejitas Murders: The crime documentary shows the story of the Mexican serial killer Juana Barraza, also known as ‘La Dama del Silencio’ and ‘The Little Old Ladykiller’. It will be released on Netflix on July 27, 2023.

Quarterback: A documentary on America’s National Football League (NFL) will follow three of the League’s most elite Quarterbacks – Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings, and Marcus Mariota of the Atlanta Falcons. Release date and month not announced yet.
