NEET UG 2026 re-exam admit card released at neet.nta.nic.in; check how to download, direct link and other important guidelines

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued admit cards for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. Candidates appearing for the re-test can download their hall tickets from the official website, neet.nta.nic.in, using their application number along with their date of birth or password.

The release of admit cards comes as authorities step up preparations for the re-examination, which will be conducted under enhanced monitoring and security measures.

Re-examination scheduled for June 21

The NEET UG 2026 re-exam will be held on June 21 from 2 pm to 5:15 pm in offline pen-and-paper mode.

This year, nearly 22.75 lakh candidates registered for NEET UG, while over 22.05 lakh appeared for the examination conducted on May 3. The re-test is being organised with additional safeguards aimed at ensuring fairness and transparency.

Cabinet Secretary T.V. Somanathan recently reviewed preparedness measures with senior officials and emphasised coordination among administrative authorities, examination centres and security agencies.

NTA introduces candidate-focused measures

Ahead of the re-examination, the NTA has introduced several changes aimed at improving the test-taking experience.

The examination duration has been extended by 15 minutes, taking the total test window to 195 minutes. The agency has also increased the space available for rough work within the question booklet and redesigned the booklet format to improve usability.

These measures were introduced following student feedback and recommendations intended to make the examination process more convenient.

The exam will continue to comprise 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The paper carries a maximum of 720 marks, with four marks awarded for each correct answer and one mark deducted for every incorrect response.

List of prohibited items

The NTA has reiterated restrictions on items that can be carried inside examination centres.

Candidates are not permitted to bring mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, electronic pens, wallets, pouches, study material, written notes or stationery from home. Any electronic or communication device remains strictly prohibited.

Only transparent water bottles will be allowed. Students have also been advised not to carry valuables, as storage facilities may not be available at examination centres.

Candidates must follow the dress code and reporting instructions mentioned on their admit cards.

Free bus travel for candidates in Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced free travel for NEET candidates on Delhi Transport Corporation buses on June 21.

Students can avail the facility by presenting their admit cards while travelling. Similar assistance measures have also been announced by several states to facilitate travel for candidates appearing in the re-examination.

NEET UG to move to CBT format from 2027

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has confirmed that NEET UG will transition to a Computer-Based Test format from 2027.

The decision follows recommendations made by a high-level expert committee tasked with strengthening examination systems and improving accountability. However, the June 21 re-examination will continue in the traditional pen-and-paper OMR format.

With admit cards now available, candidates have been advised to verify their details and follow all examination-day instructions before appearing for the re-test.
