NEET UG 2026: NTA lists prohibited items, warns candidates of disqualification

The National Testing Agency has released an advisory for candidates appearing in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate 2026, outlining restrictions for exam day. The exam is scheduled to be held on May 3 from 2 pm to 5 pm across 552 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. Admit cards will be issued soon on the official website, neet.nta.nic.in.

In a post on X, the NTA cautioned candidates against carrying prohibited items to the examination centre. It stated that any candidate found with banned items will be booked under unfair means. Candidates have been advised to strictly follow all instructions mentioned on the admit card.

Mandatory frisking at exam centres

As per the official notification, candidates will undergo extensive and compulsory frisking before entering the examination venue to ensure compliance with guidelines.


List of prohibited items

The NTA has specified that candidates must not carry the following items under any circumstances:

  • Any textual material, whether printed or written, bits of paper, geometry box, pencil box, plastic pouch, calculator, pen, scale, writing pad, pen drives, eraser, log table, electronic pen, scanner and similar items
  • Communication devices such as mobile phones, bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, pagers and health bands
  • Personal items including wallets, goggles, handbags, belts and caps
  • Watches, wristwatches, bracelets and cameras
  • Ornaments or any metallic items
  • Food items, whether opened or packed, and water bottles
  • Any other item that could be used for unfair means

Guidelines for candidates

Candidates have also been advised to avoid wearing heavy clothing and jewellery to the examination centre. Carrying the NEET UG hall ticket along with a valid government identity proof is mandatory. Entry to the examination hall will not be permitted without the admit card.

Provision for special circumstances

In case of unavoidable situations or medical conditions, candidates must seek prior approval from the NTA before the admit cards are issued.
