The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course is most preferred by NEET-qualified candidates. Candidates who pursue this course can start medical practice, enroll in MD/MS (postgraduate), or enter research, public health, or hospital administration.
As per the latest report by the National Medical Commission (NMC), a total of 780 MBBS colleges (including AIIMS and JIPMER) are operational in the country with an annual intake of 1,18,190 students. These include AIIMS Delhi with 132 seats, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi with 170 seats, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi with 250 seats, Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi with 240 seats, among others.
