NEET 2022: Dress code rules issued; long-sleeved clothes, shoes not allowed

As per NEET 2022 Dress Code, candidates cannot wear long-sleeved clothes, jewellery, shoes, belts, goggles, or caps, to the exam venue. This step has been taken to prevent cheating.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2022 is all set to be conducted on July 17. The dress code for NEET 2022 states that candidates cannot come wearing long sleeves to the exam hall. In addition to that, they cannot wear shoes. Only slippers and sandals are allowed, and these must be in low heels, not high.

Moreover, no ornaments or metallic items will be allowed in the exam hall. For instance, do not wear watches, any type of cameras, bracelets, etc. to the exam. Similarly, items like caps, goggles, belts, wallets, handbags, etc won’t be allowed.


As per NTA, the exam conducting body, if anyone comes to the exam centre wearing these things, they will have to remove the forbidden article.

The total number of registered candidates for NEET 2022 comes to around 18.72 lakh. All of them will appear for the exam simultaneously. It will take place in pen and paper mode.

Being the biggest exam of the year, the NTA has released this dress code to ensure the protection and sanctity of its stringent rules. Moreover, if you want to come wearing a cultural or customary dress to the exam, you are required to reach the exam centre at least an hour before the last reporting time i.e. 12:30 pm.

Thus, if you will be wearing a customary dress, kindly reach the centre by 11:30 pm. This will allow the staff to get enough time to properly frisk the candidates without causing any inconvenience to them and also maintain the exam’s sanctity.

As per the official brochure by NTA, female candidates will be frisked by female staff in a closed enclosure to ensure fairness and comfort.

NEET 2022 will be conducted on July 17th, 2022 across 546 cities in India and 14 cities outside the country. Despite the ongoing protests, the NTA hasn’t changed the exam dates.
