Nawazuddin Siddiqui alleges misappropriation of funds by brother and former wife, files Rs 100 crore defamation suit

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has filed a defamation suit against his former wife, Anjana Pandey and his brother Shamsuddin seeking Rs 100 crore in damages for the harassment and defamation he suffered due to the misleading claims made by them. The lawsuit was presented to the Justice Riyaz Chagla bench, which will hear it on March 30, by attorney Sunil Kumar. The suit seeks an injunction to permanently restrain the two from defaming the actor, and Siddiqui is asking that his brother and former wife be directed to not publish any defamatory content on their social media platforms and to withdraw any defamatory allegations they have made against him.

Siddiqui claims that his brother became dishonest and started cheating and defrauding him after he handed over the credit cards, debit cards, ATM, signed chequebook, bank passwords, email addresses, and everything to him. The suit alleges that Shamasuddin purchased several properties, including a flat on Yari Road, a semi-commercial property, a farmhouse in Shahpur, a place in Buldhana, and a property in Dubai, along with about 14 vehicles, including BMWs, Range Rovers, and Ducatis, in the actor's name but without his knowledge or consent. Siddiqui alleges that when he questioned his brother, he instigated his former wife to file false and frivolous cases against the actor to divert his attention.




Siddiqui alleges that his ex-wife pretended to be single but, in reality, she was already married to another man before they got married. He claims that he eventually found out the truth and was shocked. In addition, Siddiqui claims that his brother, who serves as his manager, had access to many of his meetings, whether formal or casual and utilised a recording device to capture talks that are too private to be made public. Siddiqui's ex-wife and brother are accused of stealing Rs 21 crore.

In addition, Siddiqui asserts that when he asked for the restitution of his property, his ex-wife Anjana and his brother joined forces to start extorting money from him using shoddy social media remarks and films. Moreover, Siddiqui claims that the fabricated and intentional controversy that his ex-wife and his brother instigated delayed the release of his subsequent films, causing him to suffer a loss of more than Rs 100 crore. He further claims that the posts and articles by his brother and his former wife Anjana are so defamatory that he "feels very shy to come to social gatherings and come before the public at large."
