Why Railways adds special trains during festivals

Railways usually increases capacity during peak travel seasons when a spike in passenger numbers is expected. Festivals often see families travelling long distances to reunite, leading to packed trains and higher demand.

Running special trains helps reduce pressure on regular services and offers a more affordable option compared to air travel, where ticket prices often rise sharply during holidays.

With the latest move, travellers are likely to find it easier to secure tickets and plan journeys around Navratri and Eid. Railways has tried to cover multiple routes so that more people can reach their destinations without last-minute hassles.

The broader aim remains simple: help people get home in time for celebrations without the usual travel stress.
