Navratri Day 7 Kalratri Puja: Know everything about Maa Kalratri, puja timing, and significance

Nine-days Shardiya Navratri festival is one of the most important festival of Hindus. During this festive period, the last five days, known as Durga puja, are celebrated with great enthusiasm in states like Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Tripura, Bihar and Jharkhand. It is believed that the Goddess Durga visits Earth during these five days to bless her devotees.

The seventh day of Navratri, known as Mahasaptami, is dedicated to Maa Kalratri. Goddess Kalratri is considered to be the one who rescues from troubles. This year Mahasaptami is falling on October 2. Goddess Kalratri is worshiped at night. The worshipping on this night is considered to be auspicious. Godess Kalrati killed the Raktabeej along with Shumbha and Nishumbha on this day.

Maha Saptami will start at 08:46 pm on October 1 and end on 06:47 pm on October 02.

Significance of Maa Kalratri:
Goddess Kalratri gets her name due to her Krishna Varna (Dark complexion). Maa Kalratri is also known as Shubhankari as she killed demon Shumbh. The three-eyed Goddess Kalratri sits on donkey and holds Khadga, and Kanta (iron weapon) in her four arms.

How to perform Maa Kalratri Puja
The puja for Maa Kalratri is performed for two ways. On the first day, puja is performed for tantra-mantra and on the other day regular devotees offers their prayers. It is believed that the goddess loves blue colour. It is a symbol of fearlessness. Jaggery is also loved by Maa Kalratri and therefore devotees should never forget to offer her jaggery during puja rituals. Devottes should offer Devi queen or marigold flowers at night, light a lamp of ghee and recite Durga Saptashati.
