National Farmers Day 2025 is observed on December 23 to mark the display of farmers' unparalleled contributions to the growth and progress of India’s economy. The day is also popularly known as Kisan Diwas.

Kisan Diwas 2025 commemorates the birth anniversary of Choudhary Charan Singh, India's 5th Prime Minister, who served from 1979–80. He is widely remembered as the “Champion of India’s Farmers”. Renowned for his extensive understanding of rural issues, Choudhary Charan Singh was also popular for his steadfast advocacy for farmers’ rights and welfare.

National Farmers Day 2025 is an important observance in India that honours farmers as the backbone of the nation.

As India celebrates National Farmers Day 2025 on December 23, there has been no official announcement on the theme of Kisan Diwas this year. The Indian government observed National Farmers Day with the theme of “Empowering ‘Annadatas’ for a Prosperous Nation” last year.

But one can expect some of the agriculture institutes and bodies of government to celebrate the special day with gatherings and special events. The day marks farmers’ unparalleled contributions to the growth and progress of the country’s economy.

Every year, various programs, seminars, debates, discussions, competitions, workshops, exhibitions, etc. are being held across the country to celebrate National Farmers Day. Such opportunities allow participants to discuss critical issues such as fair pricing, climate change adaptation, sustainable farming methods, and access to modern technologies in the farming sector.
