Though notorious for causing belly fat, evidence points out it has several health benefits.
Here are some health reasons to drink beer. Of course, this is not professional medical advice. Hence, you must consult with your doctor or a licenced medical professional about what is best for your health.
According to a European study, moderate beer consumption (about a pint a day) reduces the risk of heart disease by 31%. It claimed that alcohol consumption reduces the risk of heart disease by raising high-density lipoprotein (HDL), otherwise known as good cholesterol.
Some also say that people with diabetes who drink moderately reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, which can be one of the biggest complications that can arise from diabetes. Moderate drinking may also prevent the development of type-2 diabetes later in life, according to reports.
Reports also claim that beer may play a role in preventing bone loss. Moderate beer consumption is believed to rebuild bone mass in men and young women.
As per some reports, adults over the age of 65 who drank 1-6 beverages per week showed a lowered risk of dementia compared to adults in the same age group who drank more than 6 beverages per week or did not drink at all.
People who drink beer in moderation tend to report fewer instances of ill health than those who drink excessively or don't drink at all.
Disadvantages
Do note that moderation is the watchword here. Excessive drinking is known to result in bad health. Also, excessive drinking can lead to depression, alcohol dependence, and even cancer.
