Narasimha Jayanti holds immense religious significance as it marks the birth anniversary of Lord Narasimha, the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Devotees believe that worshipping Lord Narasimha can dispel negative energies and protect them from hidden enemies, evil spirits, and anxiety.

Narasimha Jayanti 2024: Story
The legend of Narasimha Jayanti centers around Hiranyakashyap, a king who declared himself the supreme god. His son, Prahalad, remained a steadfast devotee of Lord Vishnu. Despite numerous attempts by Hiranyakashyap to kill Prahalad, Lord Vishnu protected him. According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Narasimha emerged to kill Hiranyakashyap, who could not be killed by any human, animal, or demon, neither on earth nor in the sky, nor during the day or night. Lord Narasimha, in his unique form, fulfilled these conditions and vanquished Hiranyakashyap.

Devotees begin the day with a holy bath and perform rituals dedicated to Lord Vishnu. They place an idol of Lord Narasimha or Lord Vishnu on a wooden plank, bathe it with Panchamrit, adorn it with clothes and jewelry, and light a diya with desi ghee. Offerings include flowers, fruits, dry fruits, and sweets like kheer or halwa. Devotees recite the Lord Narasimha Mantra and visit Vishnu temples, offering Tulsi garlands.
