Veteran actor Nana Patekar, known for his punctuality and his intense temperament, walked out of the O Romeo trailer launch out of anger and frustration before the event started. The trailer and poster launch of Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri starrer 'O Romeo' was supposed to be a celebratory event but now it is grabbing attention for an unexpected reason. The 75-year-old actor reached a mall in Mumbai's Andheri on January 21 for the trailer launch but angrily left the venue after a 60-minute wait as his co-stars failed to show up, reports ETimes.

According to people present at the venue, Nana Patekar left the event in anger after waiting for nearly an hour for the programme to begin. Choosing not to wait any longer, he walked out — a moment that soon became the main talking point of the evening.

Why did Nana Patekar leave the O Romeo trailer launch in anger?

A video has now gone viral that shows the 'Welcome' actor walking out of the auditorium and walking to the lift even as the organisers try to cajole him. The video shows Nana Patekar angrily pointing at his watch and saying something to the person trying to persuade him to stay for the trailer launch. In another clip, the actor is seen firmly gesturing “no” to an organiser near the elevator.

The poster launch of O Romeo was supposed to take place at 11 am at a mall in Andheri and trailer launch was scheduled for 12 pm inside a theatre. Nana Patekar, known to be a stickler for time, arrived for the trailer launch at sharp 12 pm and was waiting inside the theatre. The chaos started because the poster launch of the upcoming Vishal Bhardwaj movie got delayed. Other actors, including Shahid Kapoor, Tripti Dimri and others arrived late. The poster event went on till 1 pm. Nana Patekar had to sit and wait for almost one hour. He got frustrated and left the venue without attending the full event.

Vishal Bhadrwaj reacts after Nana Patekar leaves venue

Reacting to the event, the director of the film, Vishal Bhardwaj said, “Nana apne signature style me uthe aur kaha ki mujhe 1 ghanta wait karwaya aur chale gaye. Hume bura nahi laga because we know.. That's what makes Nana Patekar the Nana Patekar (He got up in his signature style and said that he was made to wait for one hour, and then he left. We did not feel bad, because we know… that’s what makes Nana Patekar, Nana Patekar.)”

"In a class, we've often had someone who bullies other kids, but also entertains, and yet everyone wants to be around him. So, Nana is that person. Our friendship is of 27 years old, but we're working for the first time together," he added.

About O Romeo

According to the makers, “O Romeo is a romantic action drama based on true events, promising a gripping cinematic experience with Shahid Kapoor stepping into a role full of grit, emotional depth, intensity and quirk.”

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, O Romeo is set to release in Valentine’s Week on 13 February 2026.

The trailer presents Shahid Kapoor in the role of a gangster, deeply obsessed with Triptii Dimri’s character. The narrative appears dark and emotionally charged, exploring themes of love, anger, power, and fear against the backdrop of Mumbai’s dangerous streets. Meanwhile, Avinash Tiwary is set to appear in a menacing villainous role.
