Different reports put Patekar's net worth close to Rs 50 crore, while some estimate it nearer Rs 80 crore. Nana Patekar Mumbai Home
Nana Patekar Goa Residence
Apart from his Mumbai base, Patekar owned a house in Goa, the same state where he passed away. Compared to his humble Andheri flat, his Goa home was described as more modern and contemporary in design. He was known to split his time between Mumbai, Goa and Pune, spending extended stretches at each.
Nana Patekar Property: Pune Farmhouse
Patekar also owned a large farmhouse spread across roughly 27 acres in Khadakwasla, near Pune. The property had seven rooms and a large hall, and was reportedly used to grow wheat and paddy, which Patekar sold across Maharashtra. Earnings from the farm were said to be distributed among farmhands and local farmers. He also owned a separate house on Law College Road in Pune.
Nana Patekar Car Collection: What Cars Did He Drive
Patekar kept a small but distinct set of vehicles rather than a flashy supercar garage. His collection reportedly included a Mahindra Jeep CJ4, an Audi Q7 and a Mahindra Scorpio, a mix that again reflected his preference for function over show.
Patekar debuted in Hindi cinema with Gaman in 1978 and went on to build one of the most respected filmographies in the industry, with roles in Parinda, Krantiveer, Welcome and Natsamrat among others. Over his career, he won three National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards and two Maharashtra State Film Awards. In 2013, he was awarded the Padma Shri for his contribution to cinema and the arts. This long, award studded career is largely what built the fortune now being discussed in the wake of his death.
Nana Patekar Charity Works
Patekar was also known for his charitable work. In 2015, he reportedly donated to drought hit farming families across Maharashtra, personally handing over cheques worth Rs 15,000 each to over a hundred affected families in Latur and Vidarbha. Friends and colleagues have often pointed to this as proof that his wealth was never the point for him.
Who Was Nana Patekar
Born Vishwanath Patekar on January 1, 1951, in Murud Janjira, Maharashtra, the actor had a difficult start in life. His family's business was taken over by a trusted acquaintance when he was just 13, pushing him into financial hardship. He began working soon after, painting movie posters in Chunabhatti for Rs 35 a month. His father died of a heart attack when Patekar was 28, and the actor also lost his first son in early childhood. He married Neelkanti Patekar in 1978, and the couple later separated. He is survived by his son, Malhar Patekar.
