A mysterious disease has been reported at poultry farms in Telangana, raising concerns among authorities and farmers.

According to ANI, the outbreak has been detected in Konnur, Madanapuram Mandal, Wanaparthy district. The disease has already led to the deaths of approximately 2,500 chickens within just three days, confirmed K. Venkateshwar, District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Officer of Wanaparthy.

Officials from the District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department inspected the site and collected samples for laboratory testing. "The deaths occurred over three days—117 on the 16th, 300 on the 17th, and the remaining on the 18th. We were informed thereafter and sent the samples for testing on the 19th," officials stated.

The affected poultry farm, Premium Form, operates as an integrated system with a capacity of 5,500 birds and is owned by Shivakehavulu.

Bird Flu Cases Reported in Andhra Pradesh

Meanwhile, neighbouring Andhra Pradesh has reported cases of bird flu, prompting the state government to intensify containment efforts. Strict measures have been enforced across three affected districts to curb the spread of the virus.

As of February 14, over one lakh hens have been culled, and officials have established red and surveillance zones to prevent further transmission, ANI reported.

Authorities in Telangana are closely monitoring the situation to determine if the poultry deaths are linked to bird flu or another unidentified cause.
