‘My tax dollars used to bomb my own country’: Mia Khalifa breaks down amid Israel’s strikes on Lebanon

Lebanese-American media personality Mia Khalifa has voiced strong emotions over the recent Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon, sharing an emotional video that has since gone viral on social media.

In a post on Instagram, Khalifa expressed distress over the scale of the strikes and their reported impact on civilians. She criticised the situation in strong terms, questioning the role of global powers and describing the developments as deeply troubling. Her remarks quickly gained traction online, sparking a mix of support and criticism from users.

In the video, Khalifa appeared visibly shaken as she spoke about the intensity of the bombardment. She described the visuals emerging from Lebanon as some of the most disturbing she had seen in recent times, referring to reports of multiple airstrikes hitting residential buildings, schools, hospitals, and other civilian infrastructure within a short span.

“I don’t know how to reconcile my tax dollars doing this to my homeland,” she said, reflecting on her personal connection to the country and the emotional weight of the situation. She added that she often feels at a loss for words during such moments and sometimes relies on sharing others’ voices to better articulate the gravity of the crisis.

Khalifa also expressed solidarity with people affected by the violence, saying her thoughts were with those in Lebanon facing the consequences of the ongoing conflict.

The escalation comes amid heightened regional tensions, with Israel carrying out extensive strikes targeting what it described as positions linked to the Iran-backed group Hezbollah. According to official statements, more than 100 sites were hit across Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon in a coordinated operation.

Lebanon’s civil defence authorities reported that at least 254 people were killed and over 1,100 injured in the strikes. The developments have raised fresh concerns over regional stability and the prospects of a sustained ceasefire, particularly amid ongoing diplomatic efforts involving multiple countries.
