Muttiah Muralitharan’s birthday: First look poster and teaser of Sri Lankan cricketer’s biopic ‘800’ out

Legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan was born on April 17, 1972, and celebrates his 51st birthday on Monday. A biopic on the bowler had been announced, and on the occasion of his birthday, the producers of the film released the first look poster.

Titled 800, the biopic of Muttiah Muralitharan is named after the 800 wickets of the famous bowler in test matches, which is the most number of wickets taken by a bowler ever.

The film 800 has been written and directed by MS Sripathy.

The intriguing poster of 800 shows actor Madhurr Mittal of Slumdog Millionaire fame, as Muttiah Muralitharan. In one poster, his silhouette is seen with a red season ball and in the other, he is seen smiling, with the reflection of stumps on his face with the bails off – to denote wickets taken.

The short teaser of the film 800 shows the first poster after a crowd cheering at one of the famous stadiums of cricket.

The bowler’s name has been spelt as Muthiah Muralidaran in the poster of 800.

Who is Muttiah Muralitharan?

Muttiah Muralitharan is a legendary cricketer from Sri Lanka, who has as many as 16 world records to his credit.

Not many know that Murali, as he is called fondly, has his roots in Tamil Nadu, India, from where his grandparents had migrated to Sri Lanka to work in tea plantations.

In 2002, the Wisden Almanack rated Muralitharan as the greatest test match bowler. Muralitharan is also the first Sri Lankan cricketer to be inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

Although the release date is not out yet, the film 800 will be showcased in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi.
