The Maharashtra Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has issued a notice to temporarily close the renowned Papa Pancho Da Dhaba in Mumbai following a disturbing incident where a customer allegedly discovered a dead rat in a dish he had ordered.

Anurag Dilip Singh, 40, visited the restaurant with his friend Amin Khan, 40. The duo placed an order for bhuna gosht and chicken dhaba. However, their meal took a horrifying turn when they found a lifeless rat in their dish, prompting immediate concern and disgust.

Confronting the hotel's manager regarding the shocking discovery yielded no satisfactory explanation, prompting Singh and Khan to involve the Mumbai Police. They took to social media, tweeting images of the dish containing the deceased rat. The Mumbai Police responded by filing an FIR (First Information Report) in response to the complaint.

Amin Khan's tweet included the images, stating, "@MumbaiPolice Rat found in our gravy at Papa PanchoDaDhaba near Pali Naka Bandra West. No manager or owner is ready to listen. We called the police and 100 others as well. No Help yet."

In response to the complaint, authorities have booked both the manager and the vendor responsible for supplying chicken to the restaurant. The FIR outlines charges under sections 272 (adulteration of food or drink intended for sale), 336 (act endangering the life or personal safety of others), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

The incident has not only sparked outrage but also highlighted the significance of stringent quality control and safety measures within the food industry. The restaurant's location in Mumbai's Bandra only adds to the urgency of maintaining high standards of food preparation and hygiene.

A similar incident from Punjab's Ludhiana was reported by the Indian Express in July this year. In that case, a family went to Ludhiana's Parkash Dhaba near Vishwakarma Chowk. To their horror, they saw a rat in their chicken dish.
