In an unfortunate turn of events, a woman in her late twenties passed away after she accidentally consumed tomatoes laced with poison.

27-year-old Rekha Nishad - a resident of Mumbai's Malad area - added tomatoes to her Maggi noodles, having forgotten that they were laced with rat poison, causing her to vomit hours after eating the food and eventually causing her death.

"While watching TV, she accidentally added the tomato to her food," Musa Devarshi, Sub Inspector of Malvani Police was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Nishad had injected the tomatoes with rat poison around July 21, in a bid to kill rodents in her house. The very same led to her demise on Wednesday.
