Heavy showers had brought Mumbai and neighbouring districts to a near standstill on Monday and Tuesday, causing waterlogging and transport disruptions across several parts of the city.
According to the latest weather update issued at 7:00 am on July 8, occasional gusty winds reaching 60-70 kmph are also likely. A high tide of 3.77 metres is expected at 5:17 pm, prompting authorities to urge residents to remain cautious in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

BMC debunks viral message on school closure
Amid the rain alert, a message circulating on social media claiming that schools in Mumbai would remain closed on Wednesday, July 8, and that private offices had been allowed to work from home has been declared fake by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).In an official statement, the civic body clarified that it has not issued any such notification.
The BMC appealed to citizens to remain alert against false and misleading messages and advised them to rely only on updates shared through its official MyBMC social media handles. Residents can also contact the civic helpline 1916 for verified information.
Mumbai local train services operating normally
Rail services, which were impacted earlier this week due to heavy rain, have returned to normal.Central Railway said suburban train services are running on all major corridors, including:
- Main Line: CSMT–Khopoli/Kasara
- Harbour Line: CSMT–Goregaon/Panvel
- Trans-Harbour Line: Thane–Vashi/Panvel
- Port Line: Belapur/Nerul–Uran
Rainfall eases after two days of disruption
