Mumbai police take legal action against Urfi Javed over fake arrest video

​​​"A viral video of a woman being allegedly arrested by Mumbai Police, in a case of obscenity is not true - insignia & uniform has been misused," Mumbai police said on social media platform X after the 'Urfi Javed arrested' video went viral.

Mumbai police have taken legal action against social media influencer Urfi Javed for spreading a misleading video that allegedly tarnished their image through a fake arrest, as per an official statement.

In the viral video, a woman appeared to be arrested by Mumbai Police for an alleged obscenity case. However, Mumbai Police clarified on the social media platform X that the video was not authentic and that their uniform and emblem were misused.



A criminal case has been filed against those responsible for creating the deceptive video under sections 171, 419, 500, 34 IPC at Oshiwara Police Station. Further investigations are ongoing, and the individual portraying a fake inspector has been detained.

The vehicle associated with the incident has also been seized. Section 171 involves "wearing the attire or bearing a token used by a public servant with fraudulent intent," while section 419 pertains to cheating through personation.
