As per Mumbai police, a man reportedly murdered a 38-year-old man, who was allegedly involved with his wife, in Mumbai. He then proceeded to bury the body in a forest located in the nearby Thane district. The incident occurred on June 1, and the body was discovered on Tuesday. The accused has been taken into custody by the authorities.

"The deceased, identified as Dinesh Prajapati, allegedly had an extra-marital affair with the wife of accused Suresh Kumar Kumavat, all residents of Rajendra Nagar locality in suburban Borivali," an official from Samta Nagar police station said.

"Kumavat had warned Prajapati against the affair, but the latter did not take the warning seriously," he said.

On June 1, Kumavat called Prajapati to a spot in their locality and had a fight with him. During the heated argument, Kumavat allegedly attacked Prajapati and hit on his head with a hammer multiple times following which he died, the official revealed.

Later, the accused stuffed the body in a gunny bag and took it on his way to Ghodbunder Road in Thane where he buried it in a forest, he said.

When Prajapati didn't come back home, his family reported him as a missing person. During the investigation, the police reviewed CCTV footage from the vicinity. They discovered video clips showing Prajapati exiting his house, while the suspect was observed carrying an object in a gunny bag on his scooter.

The accused was arrested and booked under various Indian Penal Code Sections including 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence), he said, adding that further investigation was on into the incident.
