Waterlogged tracks have impacted train services in Mumbai

Heavy rainfall in Mumbai has disrupted flight and train services across the city, even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) downgraded its weather warning from a Red Alert to an Orange Alert for Tuesday. The weather office has, however, cautioned that heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds is expected to continue.

Although the intensity of rain eased on Monday afternoon after a spell of extremely heavy showers, authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant, especially in low-lying areas prone to flooding during the monsoon.

As a precaution, all government, municipal and private schools and colleges in Mumbai will remain closed on Tuesday. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and follow official advisories.

Flight status today

Airlines have advised passengers to check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport, as adverse weather conditions continue to affect operations.

IndiGo issued the following travel advisory: "Due to heavy rains, flights to/from Mumbai and Pune are impacted. We recommend checking your flight status on our website or app before heading out. Also, please allow extra time for your commute, as slow-moving traffic may affect road travel en route to the airport. Thank you for your patience and for standing by us during this time."

Passengers are advised to monitor updates from their respective airlines, as delays and schedule changes remain possible.

Heavy rainfall and widespread waterlogging in the Mumbai Central division of Western Railway disrupted rail services on Tuesday, leading to the cancellation of several trains and delays across the suburban network.

According to the Railways, multiple train services in the Mumbai Central division have been affected due to inundated tracks caused by incessant rain.

Western Railway, in a post on X, said the following MEMU services have been cancelled for July 7, 2026, due to waterlogging:

Earlier, the North Western Railway also announced the cancellation of Train No. 22916 Hisar–Bandra Terminus and Train No. 22934 Jaipur–Bandra Terminus on July 7.

In a separate update, rail traffic on the Central Railway route has been affected following a landslide between Thakurvadi and Monkey Hill stations.

The Central Railway said restoration work is progressing steadily at nine locations in the South East Ghat section, with work almost complete at four sites.

"Out of the nine locations in the South East Ghat where restoration work is progressing at a steady pace, work is almost complete at four locations. Dedicated and committed railway personnel are striving hard to restore services at the earliest," the Central Railway said in a post on X.

Railway officials added that several trains connected to Rajasthan have also been affected, with some services diverted and others partially cancelled. Passengers have been advised to check the latest train status before starting their journey.

Meanwhile, Central Railway said in another advisory that all Western Railway suburban local services between Churchgate and Dahanu Road are running 10–15 minutes behind schedule due to the weather conditions.

Mumbai local train services between Vasai Road and Virar have, however, been restored after a temporary disruption caused by heavy rainfall.

Additionally, Train No. 22953 Mumbai Central (MMCT)–Ahmedabad (ADI) Gujarat SF Express, scheduled to depart at 5:40 am on July 7, 2026, has been rescheduled. Passengers are advised to check the latest updates before travelling.
