An MGL spokesperson told TOI that domestic PNG (cooking gas) would not be impacted. "Currently, out of MGL's total 389 gas stations, 225 are operating. BEST operated its fleet of CNG buses on Monday as they refuelled at Anik depot on Sunday night, but there was no more fuel left for buses on Monday night, an official said. Most aggregator cabs such as Ola and Uber had the option to switch to dual fuel and run on petrol, but riders were impacted by surge fares as high as 2x in many areas.
The CNG crisis began Sunday afternoon after "third-party damage" to the gas pipeline of GAIL India Ltd at RCF terminal, Chembur, resulting in the supply to Mahanagar Gas Ltd's (MGL) station in Wadala being disconnected.
