Mohali: Two teachers climb atop water tank, threaten self-immolation; watch video
To make their voices heard, two teachers decided to climb a water tank again while protesting against the Punjab government. The teachers climbed atop a water tank near Singh Shaheedan Gurdwara in Mohali's Sohana at midnight on Wednesday.

According to Sippy Sharma, who is a physical training instructor, the previous Punjab government of Congress guaranteed them jobs but they never got them. She further said that after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came into power in Punjab, it also assured them government jobs, but even after seven months of AAP government,they are still being given false assurances.

— ANI (@ANI) 1664949903000A similar incident happened last year in June when at least six contractual employees climbed atop the Education Secretary’s office building with bottles full of petrol in their hands and threatened self-immolation. They were also joined by hundreds of contractual teachers from all over Punjab demanding regularisation of their service and a hike in their salaries.
