‘Missed finals by 0.2’: R Madhavan shares son Vedaant Madhavan's Asian Games latest update

Vedaant Madhavan’s Asian Games debut ended without a place in the final as India failed to qualify for the men’s 4x200m freestyle medal race at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Monday.

The 21-year-old swimmer, who is the son of actor R Madhavan, was part of a mixed outing for the Indian swimming contingent. Srihari Nataraj provided the biggest boost for India by booking his place in the men’s 50m backstroke final.

Actor R Madhavan also shared an Instagram story adding a caption "Missed finals by 0.2 and best Indian by 0.5".

India Finishes Ninth In 4x200m Freestyle Relay

Vedaant Madhavan, Sajan Prakash, Dhakshan Shashikumar and Aneesh Sunil combined to clock 7:24.32 in the qualification round of the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay.

India finished ninth among 13 teams, with only the top eight teams advancing to the final. As a result, the Indian quartet missed out on the medal race.

Vedaant Madhavan is the son of actor R Madhavan and an Indian competitive swimmer. A freestyle specialist, he has represented India at several international competitions and has been part of the country’s senior swimming setup.

He has also competed at international meets in Europe and the United States and represented Virginia Tech during his swimming career.
