A misleading advertisement in a newspaper today showed the German President's residence in Berlin as a boarding school.

However, an alert German envoy to India promptly busted the scam after seeing the advertisement.

Germany's Ambassador to India, Dr Philipp Ackermann, flagged the misleading advertisement, saying “This is no boarding school”.

“Dear Indian parents, I found this in today’s newspaper. But this building is no boarding school! It is the seat of the German President in Berlin. Our Rashtrapati Bhavan, as it were. There are good boarding schools also in Germany - but here, no child will be admitted,” Ackermann said in a tweet.

He also attached the advertisement along with his post.

The advertisement carries a picture of the German President's residence for admission to top boarding schools.

The advertisement, by an organisation called Afairs, headlined "The mega gathering of India's leading boarding schools right here in Delhi'.

"Create the future of your child with a life-changing boarding school experience," the advertisement read.

It claimed that representatives of over 30 leading boarding schools will attend the conference, which is to take place on October 1 and 2 at Delhi's prestigious Eros Hotel at Nehru Place.

Ackermann's tweet has since gone viral, with many readers sharing pictures of their own boarding schools.

"Thank God they didn't advertise Schloss Neuschweinstein as Indian Hogwarts," quipped one.

Another person sarcastically said, "Next time we will have a photo of "White House" here. Hope US Ambassador would be aware of quality of our news and won't be reading any Indian news paper."

Another person commented, "Oh, but imagine the parent-teacher meetings at Bellevue Palace! They'd likely end with a discussion on global affairs over strudels and coffee. Besides, the headmaster’s office here deals with a slightly different kind of ‘admissions’."

"Good that Ambassadors are fact checking the newspapers now," said another Twitter user.
