More Than 16 Lakh Students Appeared

The CET Cell witnessed one of its largest participation numbers this year. More than 18.12 lakh candidates registered for different CET examinations, while over 16.29 lakh candidates appeared, taking the overall attendance close to 90 per cent.

The high turnout highlights the growing competition for admissions into Maharashtra's professional colleges.

How Are MHT CET Scores Calculated?

The CET Cell prepares results using a percentile-based normalisation method instead of relying solely on raw marks. The process takes into account variations across examination shifts to ensure fairness.

For PCM candidates, raw marks are calculated using the following formula:

  • Physics correct answers × 1
  • Chemistry correct answers × 1
  • Mathematics correct answers × 2
The maximum score is 200 marks.

Factors That Influence Percentile Scores

Several elements play a role in determining a candidate's final percentile score:

  • Difficulty level of the examination
  • Total number of candidates appearing
  • Shift-wise normalisation process
  • Overall performance of students
Because MHT CET is conducted across multiple sessions, percentile-based scoring helps maintain uniformity among candidates who take the exam on different dates.

What Happens After the Result?

The declaration of results will mark the beginning of the admission phase. Qualified candidates will have to participate in the Centralised Admission Process (CAP), which is used for admissions to engineering, pharmacy and several other professional courses.

The counselling process generally includes:

  • Registration
  • Merit list preparation
  • Choice filling
  • Seat allotment
Students are advised to keep their documents ready and regularly monitor the official CET websites for updates regarding counselling schedules and admission procedures.

Through the CAP process, candidates compete for seats in leading institutions across Maharashtra, including COEP Technological University, Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute and Institute of Chemical Technology.
