Lionel Messi's impressive UEFA run for his team, Paris Saint-Germain FC (PSG), continued on Friday night. The Argentinean legend helped PSG secure a big win against Maccabi Haifa by scoring goals in his usual style by completely dominating the opposition.

The match between Maccabi and PSG happened on Tuesday, where PSG triumphed with a 7-2 score. As PSG won, Messi got another remarkable record under his name.

In Tuesday’s match, Messi scored the first goal in the 19th minute and swiftly managed to get another one - just before halftime. On both occasions, he was assisted by Kylian Mbappe.

With the second goal, Messi secured his name in history and now stands first in the list of players who have the highest number of goals in the Champions League. Earlier, Lionel Messi shared this spot with Cristiano Ronaldo, with 22 goals.

Messi broke the record with the second goal in the match by securing the 23rd goal. Messi is the only striker who happens to be in the top 5 European leagues to have secured ten goals and assisted for the same in a single season.

The PSG striker has become the first footballer to score against thirty-nine separate teams in the UEFA tournament. Ronaldo, the Manchester United star, has scored against just one less than Messi, that is, in 28 different clubs.
