Messi left speechless after Rafael Nadal backs him for Laureus World Sports Awards

Footballer Lionel Messi responded in no time after Tennis star Rafael Nadal backed him to win the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards. Messi reposted Nadal’s story on Instagram and wrote that a great sportsman like Nadal always leaves him speechless. He thanked the tennis star for supporting and said that Nadal deserved everything for the way he stepped all out of the court and that he is a true winner.

Messi did not forget about the other nominees and added that the competition is tough and all the players deserved the Laureus sports award.

This came after Nadal tipped his hat to Messi on Instagram and posted that it was an honour to be nominated to the Laureus Sportsman of the year but this year he backed Messi and said that he deserves it.


Earlier Nadal said that he was supporting Argentina in the FIFA World Cup final, and how he was in tears when he saw Messi lift the trophy.





In 2021, Messi hailed Nadal when he won the best sportsman of the year and said that he was the best example for everyone because of his hard work and being at best for so many years.

Rafael Nadal bagged the Laureus World Sports Awards four times – Twice for best sportsman of the year, one for breakthrough of the year and another for comeback of the year. Apart from Lionel Messi and Rafael Nadal, the others nominated for Laureus World Sportsman of the Year are Kylian Mbappe (soccer), Max Verstappen (F1), Stephen Curry (basketball) and Mondo Duplantis (athletics).
