Zakir Mamon’s daily routine involves riding his two-wheeler without a helmet. However, this seemingly brazen act has a twist. In a video that has gone viral on social media, traffic police can be seen stopping him for not wearing a helmet while riding.
To the astonishment of the police officers, no helmet could be found to accommodate Mamon's unusually large head. Despite their efforts, including a trip to a helmet shop where numerous helmets were tested, none proved large enough.
In an unexpected turn of events, Mamon was not fined by the traffic police. It seems the authorities recognized the genuine nature of his problem, and thus, he was allowed to go without a penalty.
Mamon's story has captured the attention of social media users, with some expressing concern about his safety. Many have suggested that a solution could be found if a helmet manufacturer customised a helmet specifically tailored to fit his unique head size.
Note that riding two-wheelers without a helmet attracts a fine up to Rs 500 in Gujarat, while in some other states the fine goes up to Rs 1,000. Traffic police can also impound your vehicle or driving license. In some states, driving a two-wheeler without a helmet can attract three months in jail.
As his story circulates widely, it remains to be seen how long Mamon will be able to continue his rides without a helmet, underscoring the need for innovative solutions to accommodate diverse situations in law enforcement.
