NEET UG counselling 2026: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will begin registrations for NEET UG Counselling 2026 today, August 5, for admissions under the 15% All India Quota (AIQ), deemed universities, central universities, ESIC, AFMS, AIIMS, JIPMER and other participating institutions.

Eligible candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2026 can register online through the official MCC counselling portal at mcc.nic.in.

Official websites to check

Candidates are advised to rely only on official websites for counselling-related updates:

  • mcc.nic.in: Registration, choice filling, seat allotment, counselling schedule and reporting.
  • neet.nta.nic.in and examinationservices.nic.in: NEET UG scorecards, application details and examination records.
Candidates seeking admission under the 85% state quota must register separately on their respective state counselling portals, as state counselling is conducted independently of the MCC process.

What's new this year?

MCC has introduced several technology-driven changes to simplify the counselling process.

The biggest change is a one-time physical reporting system. Candidates who choose the "Freeze" option after seat allotment must report to their allotted institute once to complete admission formalities. Those opting for "Float" can participate in subsequent counselling rounds while their documents are verified online and will be required to report physically only after Round 3 if they continue to hold a seat.

An online resignation facility has also been introduced, allowing eligible candidates to surrender their allotted seats through the counselling portal without visiting the institution.

Other changes include:

  • Online document verification
  • Digitised NRI admissions
  • Expanded facilities for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)
  • Enhanced cybersecurity measures
  • Improved grievance redressal mechanism

Documents required

Candidates should keep the following documents ready before registering:

  • NEET UG 2026 scorecard and admit card
  • Class 10 certificate (date of birth proof)
  • Class 12 mark sheet and passing certificate
  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS), if applicable
  • PwBD certificate, if applicable
  • Domicile certificate, wherever applicable
  • NRI quota documents, if applying under the NRI category
  • Any additional documents specified in the MCC Information Bulletin or by the allotted institute

What happens after registration?

After completing registration and fee payment, candidates must fill and lock their preferred colleges and courses within the stipulated deadline. Seat allotment will be based on the candidate's NEET UG 2026 rank, reservation category, choices filled and seat availability.
