The show, which debuted in January, is judged by Ranveer Brar, Garima Arora, and Vikas Khanna. It recently came under fire from viewers who felt the judges were biased against some of the contestants.
Aruna Vijay, a vegetarian, was given the freedom to cook with paneer during a mutton challenge, according to reports. The viewers also criticised the show for favouring Priyanka Biswas Kundu while forcing an emotional angle for Kamaldeep Kaur and calling her her ‘mumma’ on the show.
When it comes to the winner, Nayanjyoti Saikia, a 26-year-old self-taught cook from Tinsukia, Assam, was discovered on Instagram by Vikas Khanna. Vikas Khanna was able to persuade his father to let him pursue this career despite his father’s reservations.
MasterChef India Season 7 is now available on Sony TV and the SonyLIV app.
