‘Marathi seekh nahi toh shutter bandh kara dunga’ UP shopkeeper threatened in Mumbai by customer - watch viral video
A video from Ghatkopar West, Mumbai, is currently circulating online. It shows a customer arguing with a snack shop owner. The customer demands that the shopkeeper learn Marathi. He even threatens to shut down the shop if he fails to do so within ...

The video does not show any violence, but the customer’s tone and threats have upset many people online. Many viewers felt that the way the customer spoke was intimidating and unnecessary.
The video starts with the customer entering the shop and saying, “Marathi shik re” (which means “Learn Marathi”). The shopkeeper replies calmly, “Marathi nahi aati” (“I don’t know Marathi”).
This makes the customer angry, and he says, “Nahi tar dhanda band kar” (“Then shut your business”) and “Shutter bandh karu ka?” (“Should I shut your shop shutter?”). Despite the rude remarks, the shopkeeper stays calm and replies, “Marathi kaise?” (“How [can I learn] Marathi?”)
He further tries to explain that it’s not possible to learn a new language in just a few days. He says, “Ek do din mein thodi Marathi aayegi” (“I won’t learn Marathi in just two or three days”).
The shopkeeper remains polite throughout the conversation, while the customer continues to speak in a threatening tone. The video has received a lot of attention online, with people sharing mixed reactions.
One social media user said, “Come to Gujarat. We respect all languages and say ‘Humko sab favta hai’ to connect with people.” Another user added, “Yes, people living in Maharashtra should try to learn Marathi, but it’s not fair to force someone or threaten them.”
