Prasanna Karthik, a former policy advisor to the Chief Minister of Goa, shared his delightful experience of visiting a unique South Indian eatery named "Tadka" in Kyoto, Japan. What sets Tadka apart is that it's owned and operated by Japanese individuals, a noteworthy departure from the usual scenario of Indian-run eateries abroad. Karthik was captivated by their commitment, explaining that the proprietors visit Chennai every six months to learn new South Indian dishes, refine their techniques, and expand their menu.

Karthik didn't hold back in praising the delectable South Indian fare he savoured at Tadka, expressing that even by the high standards of his Chennai upbringing, the dosas and idlis were exceptionally authentic.

Surprisingly, Tadka predominantly caters to Japanese patrons, with very few Indians dining there.

“Apparently Tadka has very very few Indians eating there. Its customers are mostly Japanese customers who have fallen in love with the food there. What a way to contribute to India's soft power!!!” Prasanna said.

What touched Karthik the most was how wholeheartedly the restaurant owners embraced Indian culture, gaining a profound understanding of Hinduism and growing fond of it.. This fusion of culinary excellence and cultural appreciation left a lasting impression on Karthik and served as a testament to the restaurant's unique charm.
