Man thrashed for kissing wife in Ayodhya's Sarayu river

A video of UP's Ayodhya where a man was abused and thrashed for kissing his wife has gone viral.

In the video, a man and his wife were bathing in the Sarayu river of UP’s Ayodhya. The man kissed his wife in the river, which allegedly led to a scuffle as people standing nearby started thrashing him.

People started pushing and thrashing the man and pulled him out of the river. During this whole time, his wife kept trying to save him.


But the mob dragged the couple out of the river. Some men in the group also said, "we will not tolerate such vulgarity in our Ayodhya."



Ayodhya, a city in Uttar Pradesh, is situated on the banks of Sarayu. Sarayu is one of the seven streams of Ganga. The river is considered pure and holy in India.

After the video went viral, the officials said the police of the area were asked to look into the matter and investigate further, in order to take action.

Senior superintendent of police Ayodhya also added that they are trying to find the couple and the people who beat them to probe further.
