A Mumbai resident ordered food on Zomato for strangers protesting hundreds of kilometres away in Delhi on Monday, with a simple delivery note that read: "Please give this meal to whoever looks hungry at Jantar Mantar." The gesture went viral within hours.

The man, identified as Anuj Rawat from Mumbai, placed the order for the protestors.

A video showing a Zomato delivery rider arriving at Jantar Mantar with the parcel began circulating on social media Monday afternoon. In the clip, the rider can be heard reading out the note attached to the order, explaining he had been asked to hand the food to anyone at the protest site who appeared hungry.

The video drew an immediate response online, with thousands sharing it alongside comments praising Rawat's gesture. Several users called it a symbol of humanity at a moment marked by confrontation.

"Anuj Rawat, if you are seeing this post, then a salute to you," wrote one user. Another said the country needed more people like him. A third comment read: "The most beautiful mark of humanity is this: to think of filling a hungry person's stomach before one's own."



What was happening at Jantar Mantar

The CJP protest on Monday was centred on two demands: the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and reforms in the education sector.

Delhi Police had invoked Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita ahead of the Monsoon Session, placing restrictions across New Delhi district except at the designated protest site on Jantar Mantar Road. Police said the CJP had neither sought nor been granted permission for a march to Parliament.
