Man kills self by jumping in front of Delhi Metro's Blue Line

In yet another tragic incident, a man jumped in front of Metro train in Delhi's Tilak Nagar area. The incident happened on the blue line of Delhi Metro in morning at around 8:30 am. According to Delhi police, the man's name was Satish Malhotra. He was a resident of Tilak Nagar.

The 55-year old man was immediately rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

According to local reports, Malhotra allegedly committed suicide as he suffered heavy losses in his business during Covid 19. He was running a spare parts shop in Karol Bagh.


After some delay, normal services of Delhi Metro's Blue line were resumed. The Blue Line connects Dwarka Sector 21 in Delhi and Noida City Centre, with a branch line at Yamuna Bank to Vaishali.

This is not the first case of a suicide attempt at Delhi metro station. As per the available data released by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), 83 people tried to commit suicide by jumping before a Delhi Metro train in 2019. Of them, 26 were successful in taking their own lives. The CISF took over security at the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in 2017. At present, CISF personnel are stationed at all the Metro stations in Delhi. The DMRC handles at least 22 lakh commuters every day.
