Man in Hyderabad held for marrying 6 women; none knew each other

This one would beat even the most bizarre potboiler movies we have seen over the years. Police in Hyderabad investigated a 33-year-old man after his wife suspected him of absconding with her money. And what they found out about him, caught them totally by surprise.

The police found out that the man from Mangalagiri in Andhra Pradesh was married to not just the complainant, but to at least five other women. And that none of them knew each other.

For anyone who thought the 2015 film 'Kis Kis ko Pyaar Karoon' was far-fetched, this could come as sobering news. The film had the male lead, played by standup comedian Kapil Sharma, marrying three women without the knowledge of the other and making them stay in different flats in the same building.


Police in Hyderabad arrested the man - identified as 33-year-old Adapa Siva Sankara Babu - from Visakhapatnam on Thursday, the Indian Express reported. He was reportedly charged with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The woman who approached the police said she married him after seeing his profile on a matrimonial site in 2021. She accused him of fleeing with her gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 20 lakh. Police suspect there could be more victims.
