Hyderabad man shows live worm crawling in Dairy Milk chocolate bar in viral video. Cadbury says this

A man from Hyderabad recently made a shocking discovery when he found a live worm in a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate that he had purchased from a store at Ameerpet metro station on Friday.

The person, Robin Zaccheus, later took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared a video of the worm-infested chocolate bar along with the receipt for the Rs 45 Cadbury chocolate that he bought at the Ratnadeep Retail store at the metro station.

“Found a worm crawling in Cadbury chocolate purchased at Ratnadeep Metro Ameerpet today. Is there a quality check for these near to expiry products? Who is responsible for public health hazards?, ”Robin wrote on X.



Cadbury Dairy Milk responded to the viral post stating, "Hi, Mondelez India Foods Private Limited (formerly Cadbury India Ltd) endeavors to maintain the highest quality standards, and we regret to note that you have had an unpleasant experience. To address your concern, please write to us at Suggestions@mdlzindia.com, providing your full name, address, phone number, and purchase details. We request all these details to take necessary action on your complaint. Thank you, Consumer Conversation, Mondelez India Foods Private Limited (formerly Cadbury India Ltd)."

After the video went viral, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation also issued a statement saying, "The concerned Food Safety team @AFCGHMC has been alerted about this issue, and it will be resolved at the earliest."

Meanwhile, the unsettling video elicited a wave of disappointment and suggestions for recourse from netizens.

One user suggested, "Sue them and claim compensation."

Another user advised, "Raise a grievance with the Cadbury team. They will come to collect the sample and investigate."

Another X user pointed out that the chocolate bar does not have double wrapping and advised others to look for expiry details. "Looks like this chocolate didn’t had double wrapping. The reason why dairy milk is double wrapped (golden foil + white paper wrap) is to avoid worms get inside. P.s Always inspect the product & expiry details before consumption," he wrote.

Another person said he had a similar experience. "I had the same experience some 20 yrs ago with the Cadbury's Fruit and Nut bar. I wrote to them and they sent their staff 2 meet me. He told me the issue is due to the worm larve in the fruits that they use, which is difficult to remove fully," he said.
