Man boasts of Mahindra Thar’s ‘benefits’ while driving on wrong side; netizens furious over viral video
A viral video shows a Mahindra Thar driver boasting about breaking traffic rules, including wrong-side driving. Online reactions condemn the driver's reckless behaviour. This incident highlights a growing concern about the 'Thartard' mentality on ...

In the undated clip, the man says that the biggest advantage of a Thar is that “no one will bother you even if you drive on the wrong side.” “No one will say anything,” he adds, as he continues to drive against traffic. The location of the video could not be independently verified.
The clip quickly drew sharp criticism online, with many users slamming the driver for reckless and irresponsible behaviour.
One angry X user questioned how the man could even record such a video, asking what would happen if someone died because of his dangerous driving.
“Thar is no longer just a car, it’s a personality for ganwar people. A good Thar driver now feels like a rare species,” wrote another user.
“India is a lawless country, and this Thar driver in NCR proves it,” commented a third.
Another user wrote, “At least he’s being honest about why so many people buy a Thar, which is otherwise an uncomfortable and aerodynamically unstable jeep. The police can end the rule of these #Thartards in two weeks if they run a serious drive — but I doubt they will.”
A different user quipped, “COVID ended, but another epidemic has taken over our roads — the Thartards mentality virus. How does buying a vehicle suddenly delete common sense? It’s shocking and dangerous. If anyone can figure out what psychological switch flips after buying a Thar, I’ll sponsor a full week’s vacation. Until then, save your loved ones from buying this vehicle — this epidemic is real.”
The popular off-roader has gained notoriety in recent years following a series of viral videos involving reckless driving and road rage.
Notably, in November last year, a controversy erupted after Haryana’s Director General of Police linked the Thar with hooliganism. His remark — “Whoever has a Thar, his mind is not in the right place. Thar is not a car. It is a statement” — had triggered a major backlash at the time.
