Man attacks neighbour's family with iron rod over pet dog barking in Delhi's Paschim Vihar

In an awful incident, a man from Paschim Vihar, Delhi allegedly attacked three members of his neighbour's family after their dog barked at him. The accused initially threw brick at the family members and then proceeded to attack them with an iron pipe. The neighbour Rakshit stated that the accused neighbour’s name is Dharamveer Dahiya.

The events that led up to the incident were that, when the alleged accused passed by the victim's house, their dog who was sitting at their doorstep barked at him. This annoyed him and he got near the dog, grabbed it by the tail and tossed him. He didn't stop there and started hitting the dog. Allegedly, Dharamveer hit the dog because it had bit him.

When, Rakshit intervened, he got into a quarrel with him. During the argument Dharamveer smacked him with a brick. Then, he went inside his house and got an iron pipe and attacked two other members of the family, besides Rakhit using the pipe.


After hitting the dog with the metal pipe, Dharamveer then assaulted Rakshit's maternal uncle with the pipe. The injured individual started bleeding and fell on the spot. He then proceeded to hit another member of the family, and even attempted to attack another elderly neighbour who tried to intervene in the matter.

The CCTV camera installed in the colony captured the entire incident. An FIR has been lodged against Dharamveer on the basis of the victim, Rakshit's statement. Dharamveer has been charged under IPC 589, 22, 308, 323, 341 and 451. The sections also include Animals Act sections. According to the Delhi Police, the case is being investigated and the facts are being validated. All the injured persons are being medically treated, while Dharamveer is being treated for the dog bite at the hospital.
