Man arrested for Rs 1 cr extortion call to Elvish Yadav after winning Bigg Boss prize worth Rs 25 lakh

The Gurugram police has arrested a man from Gujarat in connection with an extortion call made to Big Boss OTT 2 winner and social media influencer Elvish Yadav. Yadav had lodged a complaint with the Gurugram Police, alleging that he has demanded a sum of Rs 1 crore. Subsequently, a case was registered with Gurugram Police.

Varun Dahiya, ACP Crime Branch, stated, "Gurugram Police, with cooperation from Gujarat Police, has arrested one Shakir Makrani, a resident of Vadnagar. He was influenced by Yadav; in order to earn money, he made this plan to make an extortion call."

Elvish Yadav, a resident of Gurugram, is widely popular across various social media platforms. He manages two YouTube channels, boasting over 14.5 and 4.75 million subscribers, respectively.


Recently, he made headlines by emerging as the first wild card contestant to clinch the 'Bigg Boss OTT 2' trophy. With 48 percent of the votes in his favor, he triumphed over Abhishek Malhan in the competition, securing the coveted title and a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh.

The top five finalists of the show included Elvish Yadav, Abhishek Malhan, Manisha Rani, Bebika Dhurvi, and Pooja Bhatt. While Malhan secured the runner-up position, Manisha Rani took the third spot.

In addition to his YouTube channels, Elvish Yadav is also the owner of the clothing brand, 'systumm_clothing.'

This arrest follows Elvish Yadav's recent complaint to the Gurugram Police, reporting an extortion call demanding Rs 1 crore. Yadav, who gained fame for winning 'Bigg Boss OTT 2,' reached out to the authorities on October 25, prompting the investigation into the matter.

Elvish Yadav, known for his substantial online following, has made headlines on multiple occasions since his Bigg Boss victory. He has been honored by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar of Haryana and made significant investments in properties and luxury vehicles. Furthermore, he revealed that he had not yet received the prize money of Rs 25 lakh he was entitled to after winning the reality show, which he disclosed during an appearance on Shehnaaz Gill's talk show.
