Mammootty's mother, Dulquer Salmaan's grandmother Fathima Ismail dies at 93, Shashi Tharoor Offered Condolences

Actor Mammootty's mother and Dulquer Salmaan's grandmother, Fathima Ismail, passed away in Kochi due to old age-related illness on Friday. She was 93 years old and passed away at a private hospital. She is survived by her five children, including Mammootty and his son, Dulquer Salmaan.

Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor has expressed his condolences to Mammootty on Twitter, stating that he spoke to him this morning. Tharoor emphasized the importance of the irreplaceable bond between a mother and child and wished Mammootty peace of mind during this difficult time.

Many celebrities from the Malayalam film industry also expressed their condolences on social media, including actor Simran Bagga.


Mammootty recently appeared in the Malayalam psychological drama Rorschach, in which he played the role of an NRI businessman seeking revenge for his pregnant wife's death. The film, directed by Nisam Basheer, grossed over Rs 75 crore at the worldwide box office. He also appeared in the Malayalam drama Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam and awaits the release of the Telugu film Agent, in which he plays a key role, next week in cinemas.

Last year, Mammootty was granted the UAE's Golden Visa, becoming the first Malayalam actor to receive the honor. The Golden Visa allows recipients to live and work in the UAE for ten years without a national sponsor.
